Trash/Recycling Information

Good, strong 2-ply trash bags are now available at the Water Utility Counter. Cost is $9.56 for a roll of 50 bags.

Trash Pick-Up Schedule


Trash is picked up twice weekly: 
  • All residents who live west of Hampton Road have their garbage collected on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • All residents east of Hampton are collected on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • Recycle bins are emptied once weekly on Wednesdays.

TRASH REQUIREMENTS

  • Trash should be out by 7 AM to ensure collection.  It is recommended placing it out after 6 PM, the night before the trash day to avoid service interruption. (Not days before).
  • Grass clippings and leaves must be bagged and can be placed in the alley.
  • Do not put trash out days in advance.
  • Trash will be collected by 6 PM on the scheduled trash day.
  • Only items that are properly bagged will be picked up.
  • Garbage must be placed in a plastic refuse bag. Bag must not weigh more than 50 lbs.
  • The front, back, side yards and the alley and easement should remain free of all litter, trash and refuse.
  • Receptacles must be placed in the proper location either on the front right-of-way or in the alley for weekly solid waste pickup.

LARGE/BULKY ITEM PICKUP

  • Anything larger than 50 lbs will need to go to the front and allow up to 7-10 business days to complete the pickup of bulky/brush items.
  • Items less than 50 lbs can be placed in the alley on the second trash pickup day. (Thursday/Friday).  Do not put items out days in advance.
  • Tires, batteries and other hazardous waste are not allowed in our landfill and must be disposed of properly. These items should not be placed with your regular trash for pick-up.
  • Construction materials are not accepted.
  • Fencing: All loose brush or fencing material can be placed on the curb in front of your residence for pick-up. If you are replacing the entire fence, it should be placed in the front of your residence.

ALLOWED ITEMS: Couches, chairs, mattresses, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, plumbing fixtures, refrigerators, stoves, lawn mowers, carpet, vinyl flooring, drywall, paneling (limited amounts only, no contractors allowed). Refrigerators must have refrigerant already removed.

Brush and Limbs

  • Brush refers to tree trunks and limbs from trees or bushes.
  • Place limbs/brush out front and  allow up to 7-10 business days to complete the pickup of bulky/brush items.

Recycling

  • Recycling occurs on Wednesdays.

  • Use clear or blue trash bags only. (No grocery bags)

Holiday exceptions


The holidays in the year when trash pick-up is rescheduled are:
  • New Year’s Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
